Bostik: Creating a comprehensive scope 3 carbon report to enable a leading decarbonisation plan.
Key outcomes:
A clear inventory analysis for all Scope 3 activity
Sharing a report and white paper for internal engagement
Providing a carbon footprint benchmark for industry comparison
Futureshift was able to deliver a solid and detailed GHG inventory analysis for Bostik UK, which was designed to support the development of product sustainability roadmap, at a short period of time, providing good level of support and responsiveness throughout the project

The Challenge:
The challenge lies in tracing both direct emissions from manufacturing and indirect emissions across a vast and complex supply chain. The nature of their operations relies upon high energy usage, chemical reactions and transport; every ripple across the value chain causes a chain reaction. Tracking these emissions is a daunting task - it requires gathering detailed data, ensuring consistency across reporting and navigating gaps in current carbon accounting methodologies. Understanding how they can reduce their environmental impact required a robust baseline analysis. Bostik needed specialists to provide understanding of such complexities.
The Solution:
Future Shift took a deep dive into Bostik's operations from Day one to familiarise ourselves with the data & we worked closely with their internal team at every step. We understood the elephant in the room was Category 1; Purchased Goods & Services, where a significant portion of emissions would lie. We worked closely with their internal team at every step. We highlighted the most significant contributors and recommendations for their reduction strategies across different categories. For wider team accessibly, we provided clear % breakdowns of emissions across categories, helping the team visualise how each element contributed to the overall carbon footprint At Future Shift ,we understand that equipping our clients with the know-how on where improvements can be made in their current processes and reporting is a real nugget of value for future reports. The Future Shift team presented the findings of the report paired with immediate actions and a strategy for reducing emissions. This project was a real insight into carbon reporting for one of our larger clients and a reminder to us of the importance of knowledge-sharing, high-level reporting and equipping internal teams with the tools for change.
